Who we are
Matt Deines is a veteran of the banking industry with nearly 25 years of experience as a CFO and CEO of Pacific Northwest Community Banks. As CFO of Sound Community Bank, he facilitated two public offerings, built a SOX compliant financial reporting system, completed multiple branch acquisitions and led a data processing core conversion. As CEO of First Fed Bank he nearly doubled the size of the bank in three years. He also led a joint venture for a fintech partnership, invested in three bank focused VC investments and transformed the bank’s brand and digital footprint, including online mortgage, digital banking and digital account opening. He also led the bank through crisis managing COVID-19, the acute spike in Fed Funds and the fallout from the failure of Silicon Valley Bank. Matt has served on numerous Boards, including First Northwest Bancorp, First Fed Bank, Washington Banker’s Association, Plus One Foundation, the Ruby Room and St. John’s Parish. He currently serves on the Board and Finance Committee for the Port Angeles Waterfront Center, home of Field Arts and Events Hall. A father of two college aged sons, Matt has been married to his wife, Meg, for 24 years. He is an avid reader, golfer, Seattle sports fan. His biggest passion, other than family, is helping Community Banks remain relevant in an ever changing landscape. Other than a five year period for college and early career, when he lived in Los Angeles, Matt is a lifelong Seattle resident.
